The Cycle of Life and Africa Foundation cycle for rhino conservation
In 2014, six of us set off to cycle the Cape Town Cycle Tour to raise funds for the desperate rhino cause in KwaZulu Natal. We were pleasantly surprised by the support and donations that flowed in. By 2016 we grew to a team of 82 riders and successfully raised funds beyond our expectations for our rhino protection programme.
As a result, The Cycle of Life has become a project of Africa Foundation http://africafoundation.org.za/ which is a registered NGO that has been committed to raising funds and awareness in conservation, education and health care in Africa for 24 years. This gives us the opportunity to leverage off their expertise and infrastructure, allowing us to do what we do best: focusing on raising funds for rhino conservation, educating communities, offering employment and anti-rhino-poaching.
Our entry costs R1750 which includes a branded cycle shirt, training rides on the weekends, invitations to various exciting events, guaranteed entry and preferential seeding.
We would like to encourage learners from different schools to enter the Cape Town Cycle Tour as part of our team and participate in our fundraising.
As an incentive for the best fundraiser or fundraising team we are offering a trip to Phinda for 8 learners which will include:
- 2 nights at a lodge on Phinda Private Game Reserve
- Return transfers from Durban to Phinda
- All meals and cold drinks
- Experience a rhino notching, which is a conservation activity to identify individual
- Game drives with experienced rangers
We are grateful to our loyal cyclists and sponsors for being part of our growing charity and look forward to an on going relationship.
