The information below includes the guidelines on how the seeding was calculated. It also includes the Start Group sequence and other related topics.
Change in Start Group Numbering System (for those of you who missed 2015)
In 2015, we made important changes to the start line-up in the interest of your safety and to ensure that the later groups cross the start line timeously. We will operate a similar numbering system this year.
In order to manage the start more effectively we have made the decision to change the start group numbering system.
The entire start of the Cape Town Cycle Tour will be split into 2 colours, blue and red. Red will indicate that you start on the left side facing the start line and Blue indicating the right side of the start line. We will also no longer have groups A – Z and then AA – ZZ, instead we will have 8 waves of groups A – H.

Other events timed by RaceTec
For the 2016 Cape Town Cycle Tour we have not only considered your best result in one of the Premier Seeding Events above, but also your best time achieved in other recent events timed by RaceTec (if those times were better) but with a 5% penalty. The seeding index of these events may carry additional penalties if the event was more than 6 months ago, was too short or had too little climbing in it.
Based on the information above, all riders with an index less than 100, will be seeded. Riders that have an index of more than 100, will be placed in the PPA groups if they are paid up members. Alternatively, they will be placed in the Open groups that follow after the PPA groups.
Age and Cycle Tour History
