We are the oldest welfare institution in South Africa established in 1808. We are a Child and Youth Care Centre providing a safe and secure environment for 44 vuln boys and girls aged between 5 and 19 years. Today, children are under threat as never before. It is the children who often bear the brunt of divorce, family break-up, physical and sexual abuse, and the lack of loving family background. Children need to grow up in their formative years, in a secure, loving environment. Those who develop in a dysfunctional situation will experience difficulty in becoming well-adjusted, mature adults. It is this need that the SA Children’s Home, seeks to meet. We care for, nurture and develop vulnerable children, in order for them to become balanced, well-adapted and independent adults. We provide a loving, happy and secure home for boys and girls of all ages and race groups.

Feenix was launched in June 2017 as a response to the #FeesMustFall movement that spread across campuses in South Africa during 2015 and 2016. This movement highlighted the extremely high cost of tertiary education and the impact financial stress has on student success rates. We created Feenix, an online fundraising platform that connects communities; providing a tool for students to formalize their fundraising efforts and a channel for funders to find students they wish to support.

The Feenix team is young, diverse and passionate about education. We believe that access to education should not be dependent on wealth. Our founding partner, Standard Bank, share in this belief and without their financial support and guidance, Feenix would not be in existence today.
