The Cape Town Cycle Tour 109-for-109 Charity Challenge

Can a cyclist enter both events or will there be a conflict?

You may enter both the 109-for-109 Charity Challenge and the Virtual Cape Town Cycle Tour events, there won’t be any conflict.

Do I need to do the full 109km or can I split it?

You will be required to complete the full 109km in one activity, which can be any day during the month of March 2021.

Can you do the 109km multiple times?

You can complete the 109km distance as many times as you would like during March 2021. As long as each 109km is completed in one session.

Is there a date and cut off time for the 109-for-109?

There is no cut off time to complete the 109kms, provided it is completed in one activity. The event starts 1 March 2021 and ends 31 March 2021 midnight.

Do you need Strava Premium to do the event?

No, you do not. You can use the free Strava App or Premium – Make sure that you give RaceTec permission to pull Strava Activities, using the following link – https://online.entries.co.za/entries/findperson.aspx?eid=854

Will the results be added to the RaceTec website?

Results will not be uploaded or used towards seeding for future events.

Strava activities will only be used to confirm that the riders completed the full 109km per activity, as well as the number of activities completed.

The participants will get recognition for participating and will receive a Virtual Medal.

Will this count towards the number of tours I have done?

No it will not.

The Virtual Cape Town Cycle Tour

Can a cyclist enter both events or will there be a conflict?

You may enter both the 109-for-109 Charity Challenge and the Virtual Cape Town Cycle Tour events, there won’t be any conflict..

Is there a date and cut off time for the event?

The official Virtual Cape Town Cycle Tour, will utilize the FulGaz Virtual Cycling platform, and will take place between 6-14 March 2021.
There is no cut off time within which to complete the 3 stages of the event.

Will the results be added to the RaceTec website?

Yes, your result it will be uploaded to the RaceTec website.

What does each stage look like?

Stage 1:

Distance: 17,63miles / 28km

Elevation Gain: 971ft /295meters

Starting Point: Grand Parade, Cape Town CBD

Finishing Point: Main Road, Kalk Bay

Stage 2

Distance: 20,19miles / 33km

Elevation Gain: 1033ft / 314meters

Starting Point: Main Road, Kalk Bay

Finishing Point: Main Road, Scarborough

Stage 3:

Distance: 29,91miles / 48km

Elevation Gain: 1703ft / 519 meters

Starting Point: Main Road, Scarborough

Finishing Point: Helen Suzman Boulevard, Green Point


Will it be added as one result or 3 results?

We will take your fastest result from each stage to give you an overall result and position on the leaderboard.

Will this count towards the number of tours I have done?
No, it does not count towards the number of Tours completed.

How will we do the Virtual Cape Town Cycle Tour in our home?

It must be done via the FulGaz Virtual Cycling platform on a smart indoor trainer that is linked up to the FulGaz App.

Must it be done on an indoor trainer?

Yes

What is the fee?

Entry donations for the event start at R200 and include a free one-month subscription to the FulGaz Virtual Cycling Platform. After you enter from 15 February 2021, you will be sent a voucher code, giving you one month’s free membership to the FulGaz online platform.
