Finish Line 101

Congratulations! You are a Cape Town Cycle Tour finisher.

Once you’ve heard your final timing mat beep of the day, it’s time to collect your medal, grab a Coke and move through the finish area as fast as your weary legs will let you, so as not to get in the way. There will be marshals ‘helping’ you move along, please listen to them.

Then, it’s time to celebrate, either in the finish precinct or further afield. Tog bags can be collected, if you used that service, and you can store your bike in the hyper-secure bike park so you can celebrate without worry.

The finish for the 109km riders will be in the Green Point Precinct, 42km riders will start and finish at the Grand Parade.

Once you’ve crossed the finish line

Please don’t stop as you cross the line. Keep moving, get your Coke, Powerade or water, your medal and enjoy all that the Race Village has to offer.  Stay and enjoy the beer tent and hospitality area. Is there free wifi from Comtel in the public area?

Mediclinic medical area

Got a few aches and pains after cycling 109km? Visit the medical area as you exit the fencing chutes after collecting your medal on the left and the awesome team from Mediclinic will help you make those pains a distant memory!

Thule bike park

No bikes are allowed in the Finish Village, so you are encouraged to leave your bike in the Thule Bike Park at Green Point Cricket Fields. Please ensure that your number board is cable-tied to your handlebars, so you are able to check your bike in at the Thule Bike Park.

How to get to Green Point/DHL Stadium after finishing the 42km Cycle Tour
Riders must exit Grand Parade onto Darling Street and head down Lower Plein Street, turning left into Strand Street. They will then turn right into the oncoming lane of Adderley Street and right (across the MyCiti lanes which are operational) into Riebeek Street. They will go all the way up Riebeek crossing Buitengracht and into Somerset Road. At Chiappini, they will cross to the other side of the road into a coned-off lane and onto the fan walk.

From Ebenezer Road riders will be on the pavement and will go under the Green Point circle underpass and join the finish chutes at the DHL Stadium forecourt. Riders are to obey all rules of the road as these roads are open to normal traffic. Marshals are in place to guide cyclists to the finish and not to control traffic.

Commemorative Medals

These medals are available to those who are completing their 10th, 21st, 30th or 40th Cycle Tour and will be available for collection just after you receive your Coke at the finish. (Please refer to the map above.) If you have completed 10, 21, 30 or 40 Cycle Tours before 2023 and have not received a commemorative medal, please query this at info@cycletour.co.za after the event.
