Media Accreditation Terms and Conditions
Media accreditation for the Cape Town Cycle Tour is issued at the sole discretion of the organisers.
Due to significant national and international media demand, accreditation will only be granted to journalists representing recognised media houses that can guarantee relevant event publicity. Freelance applicants must submit a commissioning letter from a recognised media organisation detailing the intended article, broadcast, or digital feature.
Only accredited press photographers will be issued media accreditation. Photographs and video captured at the event may be used solely for the applicant’s commissioned editorial purpose. Under no circumstances may any imagery be sold, syndicated, licensed, or distributed to third parties without prior written approval from the organisers.
Only pre approved photographers or journalists will be permitted motorbike access on the route while elite cyclists are racing. This is strictly controlled and non negotiable.
No photographers or journalists may access the route using their own vehicle, whether car or motorbike.
The Cycle Tour Media Office may supply editorial visuals free of charge. Requests for exclusive image use must be negotiated in advance and approved in writing.
Media accreditation permits access to the official Media Centre, where accredited media may:
Access an accredited rotational motorcycle, arranged in advance with the Media Office, subject to availability and on a first come first served basis
Receive official race results and media information
Access designated media working areas and interview zones
General Conditions
Accreditation badges must be worn visibly at all times and are non transferable
Accreditation grants access only to authorised media zones and does not permit unrestricted movement within start pens, finish chutes, the race route, or restricted operational areas
All accredited media must comply with instructions from race officials, marshals, safety personnel, and Media Office staff at all times
Failure to comply may result in immediate revocation of accreditation without recourse
Media must not obstruct athletes, officials, spectators, or race operations
Accreditation is granted for editorial purposes only and does not permit commercial filming, promotional activity, or branded content creation without prior written consent
Drone usage is prohibited unless expressly authorised in writing by the organisers and relevant aviation authorities
Submission of an application does not guarantee accreditation, and the organisers reserve the right to limit the number of accreditations per outlet
Accredited media attend and work at the event at their own risk. The organisers accept no liability for loss, damage, theft, or injury
Media are responsible for holding adequate insurance for equipment, personal injury, and public liability
Any breach of these terms may result in immediate withdrawal of accreditation and removal from the event precinct and may impact future accreditation applications
Media accreditation will allow you access to the Media Centre, where you can:
Access an accredited, rotational motorcycle (to be arranged with the Cycle Tour Media Office prior to Race Day) to take you on the route at specific intervals, and on a first come first served basis
Receive race results, hot off the press
Accreditation can only be collected from the Media Centre at the Cape Town Cycle Tour Registration that will take place in the Cape Town Stadium from 5 March – 7 March.
